The SLP continues to carry out research on its original focus: creating and exploiting synergies in crop-livestock research and addressing feed and related natural resource management, policy and institutional issues. The Programme’s portfolio of current and past research can be reached through these links:

In addition, the Programme is committing resources to understand better how livestock systems and sub-systems are changing in response to population growth, urbanization, livestock market economies, climate change and other external factors. It has commissioned two strategic desk studies implemented by cross-centre interdisciplinary teams . The first is developing an analytical framework and assessing drivers of change in key crop-livestock systems (see Herrero et al. 2010 in Science) and the second examines the tradeoffs between food, feed and fuels in smallholder crop-livestock systems. These studies will inform SLP priorities and research programmes over the medium term.
